Just as connecting with and receiving messages from animals and spirit guides can bring much comfort in coping with the loss of a beloved pet, these messages can also guide us in our daily life.
Since the end of the year and the holidays are now approaching, I decided to connect with my spirit guide, asking him for a special message for the coming holiday season.
As I connect with him, I find myself in a winter landscape at night. Snow is covering the ground and it is a clear and starry night. One of those magical nights.
An owl is sitting in a tree, quietly looking at me and my spirit guide as we walk by. No one has walked on the snow before us.
We reach a little wooden house and as we enter, I notice there is a fireplace with a fire, sending out its warmth and inviting us to come closer.
We sit down and look into the flames. My spirit guide smiles gently as I struggle to become present, to let go of stress. His compassion and peace makes me relax; so much in fact that I doze off. After a while I wake up and look into the fire again. I ask him if he has a message I can share as we approach the holidays.
He says:
“The coming holidays mark the end of the year; the end of one cycle. Before the new year begins, take time to return to peace; to find the place within where you truly feel peaceful. It’s a place where you reach a feeling of “all is well”, an acceptance of and embracing of the present moment.
Before your mind comes in with suggestions of things to do or things to worry about, simply allow yourself to rest in the peace of the season and from there focus on Gratitude. Let your state or focus as you end this year be a feeling and expression of thankfulness.
You can, for example, light a candle and express your gratitude for things, events, people, animals that have been part of your life this year. They have all been gifts and lessons for you – some pleasant and joyful, some painful. But they are all part of your life experiences as you move into the new year.
Know that although these lessons are part of your life experiences, your true self is still beyond it all – your true self is the light that shines; the awareness in which it all happens.
Give thanks and let go as you prepare for a new year; a new cycle of spring, summer, fall, and winter.
As you end the little ceremony, connect with the light of the candle and be the light, and choose in the new year to share the light.”
I thank my spirit guide for his message.
We then walk outside in the starlit night. We see a shooting star, and my spirit guide turns to me and smiles: “Make a wish.” I make my wish, and as we return home and I end the journey, he says: “Walk in peace.”
May your holidays be peaceful and joyful.
Blessings,
Marianne Soucy
Thank you so much, Marianne, for all the good you do. Blessings to you and yours!
Marianne,
Loss of any kind during the year, but especially at the holidays can be hard. Your work is of high value and means a lot to many people. My family lost my mom in June and the holidays can definitely be a time that the memories come pouring in and make us sad. However, without the memories we don’t have anything to remember them by. Thank you again for being there for those that are in grief and loss. It’s about taking the time to grieve in our own way and in our own time. Love and peace in loss.

How beautiful. I love the messages from your spirit guide. Such a wonderful way to connect to the peace we already have within <3
Marianne:
Thank you so much for the emails about pet loss. They have comforted me so much after the loss of our 18 year old Dachshund, Amos. We are having an especially hard time during the holidays as Amos always tore open his Christmas presents we gave him and was there with us sharing our joy. He was such a blessing to our family and I know his spirit lives on through the fond memories he has left us of his sweet life. I know we will see him again, along with all our dear pets in heaven. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you again for your gift of comfort.

Dear Marianne,
This has been a very difficult year for me in various ways but what hurt me most and caused me most remorse was the loss of my dog, as you know. If I could have one wish it would be that she could magically return to me – I miss her far more than I can say and life is so different without her. Thank you for your help and support – I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Margaret
Thank you for your kind words, Margaret. My heart goes out to you for your great loss, and my thoughts will be with you this Christmas. Peace and blessings, Marianne
