A message of peace for those who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet

A message of peace for those who are grieving the loss of a petWhen you are grieving the loss of a beloved pet, the painful feelings of sorrow, grief, and guilt and the emptiness in your heart and in your home after your pet is gone, can make it difficult to get comfort and peace of mind.

One morning I decided to do a shamanic journey to ask my spirit helpers if they have a message of hope, peace and comfort for people who are grieving the loss of their animal companion.

It is a cold, dark winter morning. I start by becoming present here where I am. Always returning to the now. Filling out my body with my awareness. Becoming present in the body expands and brings light. I experience that I am no longer in the dark, but find myself walking on the beach a nice, warm sunny summer day. A gentle breeze, small waves touching the sand and rolling back into the sea again. I see the light shining on the water. A beautiful, healing place to be. Feeling at peace. I look out into the horizon, and the vastness in front of me creates a space inside me as well, helping me let go of limiting beliefs, negative feelings.

My spirit guide is there. He says:

“Healing is not so much about doing, it is more about allowing. It is letting go of what you are holding on to, and realizing that when you do let go, you enter or embrace your true self which is unlimited – which is light and joy.

Those are the same teachings and lessons your animal companion came into your life to teach you with their unconditional love, joy and light. Remember that even if you may have lost your animal friend’s physical body, the light, love and joy that they were and shared with you, are still with you. As your animal friend was part of your life, so did their qualities – their light, love, and joy – become part of you too.

Healing the grief is about acknowledging the loss and realizing that the essence and light of your animal friend is still part of your life, and now also part of who you are. Let yourself connect with that joy, love and light again and share it with those who still find themselves in the darkness and need your loving light.”

Healing pet loss peaceHe takes a deep breath in, savoring the sea air and sends out waves of peace as he exhales. I feel grateful, and express my gratitude to him.

We return home and on the way back, we pass by some soft pink wild roses with the most amazing fragrance.

There is much beauty around; all we need to do is to open up to it.

Sending you peace and blessings,

Marianne

  1. Marianne,
I liked the message your received from your spiritual helpers, “healing is not about doing. It’s more about the allowing.” Sometimes that can be hard in the healing process because we want to feel better. We want the sadness to go away. But we have to allow ourselves to be IN the grief process. I was watching Deepak Chopra on the show “help desk” on OWN and there was a woman who was talking about her grief. And he said, you can’t go around it, over it or under it. You have to go through it.
I believe it just takes time and we have to allow ourselves to talk whatever time it takes to get though our grief. Not a time line of what we THINK we should do but what we NEED to do. Thanks Marianne. Always great posts.

  2. Loved this article Marianne. What a loving resource you are for helping all of us who are in the midst or have dealt with our pet’s loss. Blessings

  3. “The light, love and joy… are still with you.” Thank you for this — it’s such a valuable lesson. And I love the pink flowers.

  4. I love that line, “Healing is not so much about doing. It is about allowing.” Yes, healing and grief is about letting go but also acknowledging that our loved ones are still a part of us. A very beautiful, healing post, thanks!
