A dogs message of peace
One of the keys to both coping with and connecting with a missing pet is achieving a state of peace and calm. I have had pets gone missing myself, so I know that’s easier said than done. However, I have found it helpful to strive to get a balance between allowing yourself to feel whatever you are feeling – fear, worry, etc. – and avoid letting the negative and fearful thoughts take control.
Further down in this article I will share a few tips for achieving inner peace, but first I’ll share a communication I had with a missing dog. If you are currently looking for ways to cope with a missing animal companion, I hope that the dog’s message to their human caretaker will inspire you:
As I connect with the dog, I first experience the situation from the dog’s point of view. As the dog, I experience myself down low, coming out between some bushes. I feel as if I don’t know where I am. Something or someone big approaches. I first think it’s my human, but it’s not. In an instant I lose consciousness. When I awake I see my human sitting, crying. I go to her, but she doesn’t see me. I’m confused. I bark but she doesn’t hear. I look around – puzzled, afraid.
A spirit guide comforts me, asking if I want to send a message, a sign. “Yes!”
“But she’ll only see the sign if she gets calm and pays attention,“ the spirit guide says. He drops a ball in front of her – she doesn’t see it, but hears it. She knows the sound.
I’m now my own self again and I see the little dog jump up on the woman’s lap and lick her face – she feels something and touches the place on her cheek where the dog licked her.
“Tell her I love her very much”, the dog says to me. “I’m very sad to be away from her, but she would help me if she would be happy. Tell her to think of all the good times we had; tell her to imagine me in my favorite spot, us together – in love and peace. That will help me more than anything. She has so much love to give – don’t waste it. Use it to share with and help someone who needs her love. We’ll meet again. Until then – tell her we can reconnect in dreams, meditations – I’ll meet her in places and times of peace. Return to the peace – it’s easier for me to access her there. I must move on but will be available to her, as we are forever connected by the love we shared. Surrender to love (not fear or pain).”
I ask the dog: “Are you okay now?”, and the dog answers: “Yes, I’m at peace now.”
What especially strikes me in this dog’s message is how it is easier for the dog to access or connect with their human when the human is at peace. While it may certainly be is difficult to achieve a state of calm and peace when a beloved animal companion is missing, it is essentially what is needed to re-connect.
Suggestions for getting inner peace

I read your post and started praying and talking to my lost cat and a few minutes later I look out the front door and he has come back. It’s late at night now. I am overwhelmed with gratitude . This was the best advice and my beloved boy cat heard it. Thank you!
You are so welcome. Miracles do happen when we become present and return to our heart.
Blessings, Marianne
