Do animals go to heaven?

Pittiput and Freedom in the sun - Two friends enjoying life.

This is a question many people ask when their beloved animal companion dies. In my opinion and from my experience – yes! I’m not in doubt that animals do go to heaven when they die.

But why not get the point of view of an animal who has died? Here’s an excerpt of a talk I had with Pittiput, my deceased orange cat that you see in the photo to the left.

When I asked him to comment on the question whether animals go to heaven, Pittiput said:

That’s a big yes. Of course they do. When I was alive, heaven to me was when I lived in the park and you came to see me and feed me, being with you. Heaven is also a state of mind and a feeling – and now that I am not in my physical body, I am at peace, and I am not in pain anymore. And although I miss you, I know now more than ever how love connects us, across time, across space. Animals do have a soul, and animals do go to heaven. Heaven is not just for humans. So the short answer is: “Yes, animals go to heaven.”

Animals and the afterlife is a vast subject, that I’ll come back to again in other posts. If you want to stay informed sign up below for occasional updates. You can un-subscribe anytime.
