The Gift – Tyler the angel dog

I have done journeys for many clients and brought back healing messages from their beloved pets, and I am pleased to be able to share here a Sacred Spirit Journey for Kathy M. and her angel dog, Tyler.


As soon as I read Kathy’s e-mail and see the photos of her angel dog Tyler, I think of the song “Smile” by Nat King Cole. The ‘smile’ part, not the ‘hiding sadness’ part of the song. It touches me as Tyler’s beautiful smile and soul touch my heart.

As I get ready for the Sacred Spirit Journey to connect with Tyler the angel dog, on behalf of his human companion Kathy. I look at Tyler’s photos for a while. Beautiful photos from differences stages in his life. I feel drawn to the close up of Tyler with gray face, smiling with such a kind smile. At the same time, I also feel drawn to the young Tyler or puppy photo.

I get a vision of being on the beach. The very blue sky stands out to me. Then, to my surprise, what looks like Tyler as a puppy plops down from the sky and right into the arms of Kathy who is standing beside me to my left. There are no explanations. Just that vision; powerful and beautiful. While part of me would love to get an explanation, I know in my heart to not ask questions at this point, but to let the vision continue.

My spirit guide says to me:

“Just watch.” So I do.

I see Tyler as a puppy with Kathy on the beach. Bonding, a loving relationship with much joy and playing. Pure joy. Pure love.

That goes on for quite a while as I stand here on my usual beach familiar from many previous Sacred Spirit Journeys.

I think of that magnificent gift Kathy was given when Tyler dropped into her arms.

The puppy playing scene fades a little into the background, and next to me, Kathy and Tyler as an old dog are sitting, watching the puppy scene.

Tyler says:

“The gift… Focus on the gift.

What a precious gift it was that our hearts got reunited once again, and what a precious gift it was that we got so many wonderful years together.

Keep the joy of that puppy alive within you, and share that fresh, innocent, pure joy with the world. It’s a joy that comes straight from the Divine, for puppies are Emissaries of the Divine, angels in physical form. Heart openers. Companions of the soul.


We give you strength in tough times,
We comfort you when you are down,
We celebrate with you at every chance we get,
and most important of all: We smile!

The Divine Joy we are born with radiates from us like the rays of the sun, and lights up your life.

I came into this world to walk your life path with you and share my joy and love with you. To help you connect to your heart and soul, and keep them safe, sound and open, even when challenges might tempt you to close them off.

My heart’s pure love lives within you now, and it always will. It did from the moment we met, for I jumped right into your heart when we met, and I have stayed there ever since.


Remember everything with gratitude. Nothing needs to be forgotten or hidden, for our life belongs to us, and all our ups and downs are ours to share.

I am proud of being part of your family, of being your heart guide and protector, and joy giver.

The strength you saw in me: that same strength is within you. My sweet companion, thank you to you all for everything. My heart overflows with thankfulness for the gift I was given to be able to walk by your side during my life.

I always wanted to be by your side—that is my place. I will still be by your side, now in spirit, anytime you want. Just call on me. My ears, my soul, and my heart are tuned into you, so one thought of me, and I will be there; by your side to comfort you, to love you, to reminisce.

I love you from the bottom of my heart.”

Tyler stops speaking, and Kathy bends down and buries her face in his. Tears fall.

As Kathy looks up and into Tyler’s face, he is smiling to her; a smile that seems to open up a portal to the Divine. It is as if all the love, beauty, goodness, and light of the Divine comes through Tyler and envelops and hold Kathy. The puppy from the vision in the beginning of the journey, suddenly comes out from that ‘scene’ and runs over to Kathy, who is now sitting on the sand. The puppy greets Kathy warmly, stretching up to lick her face.

“I will help you”, the puppy says. She embraces him and holds him close.

“Thank you. I love you”, Kathy says.

“I love you too”, the puppy says.

The puppy goes to Tyler, sniffing him. Tyler is very patient and says: “It’s okay.”

The puppy runs back to Kathy and right back into her arms.

“This is where I belong”, the puppy says.

“What’s the connection and meaning of this?” Kathy asks Tyler.

Tyler says:

“Ask your heart, and you will know.

Don’t try to understand with your mind, but with your heart. Always your heart.

Just embrace the love and the joy he brings. I’ll be there too.

I will go back to the Light. Take good care of my gift.”

Kathy says: “Thank you, Tyler. I will. My mind doesn’t understand, but my heart does.”

Tyler nods and says:

“We’ll see each other again. Give my love to those at home. I love you all so very much.”

While Kathy is now standing with the puppy in her arms, we see Tyler walk on the path of light that appears before us. Walking into the light, looking younger and stronger with every step.

Before Tyler disappears, he turns and looks at us and smiles. He looks powerful and radiant. All aspects and ages of him seem to be present and important. Each with their own special quality, but each of them a part of who he is.

What a unique and beautiful soul Tyler is. A meeting that changes you forever.

Kathy goes home with the puppy. I give thanks and end the journey.

Thank you for the beautiful journey. Tyler was literally “dropped off ” to me, and I cherished him and the gifts he gave me. His smile and joy radiated every day of his life. His happiness lighted up our lives. His strength and will to live unbelievable. I will cherish and miss him the rest of my life.
