When you have lost a beloved animal companion, creating a sacred spirit connection with the animal that has passed can bring much peace of mind and healing for the heart.
I have made many sacred spirit connections with animals in the afterlife, and I am moved and inspired each and every time with the uniqueness of each animal and the way they share their message and their love for their human caretaker. During the sacred spirit connection, messages can be transmitted in various ways, such as, with words of wisdom and advice, imagery, mini-journeys, and even poetry.
I would like to share a recent sacred spirit connection I made to give you a feeling of the sacred spirit connection, and an idea of how it works. This message is just one example, and the possibilities are limitless.
The sacred spirit connection I will share, I made for a client on behalf of her angel dog. I am grateful to Tracey for giving me the opportunity to connect with her beloved angel dog, Britney, and I feel honored to meet and share such a shining light as Britney. It is a very beautiful spirit journey full of light, and I’m sure you’ll be moved by this special dog and her message as I was.
As I begin the sacred spirit journey, I find myself on a path by the sea on a cliff – a magical place with a beautiful view out over the sea.
My spirit guide says: “This is a place where the veil is thin between the worlds. It is also a place of light and beauty.”
We go and sit on a bench overlooking the sea. There are wild roses blooming around us with a wonderful fragrance. A feeling of peace surrounds us.
My thoughts go to Tracey’s angel dog, Britney, and suddenly… she’s there. She jumps up on the bench and sits next to me and my spirit guide.
I greet her warmly and ask her how she’s doing.
Britney: “I’m doing fine. I am at peace. I can choose wherever I want to go, so I choose to visit places of beauty and light like here. And then I send messages and thoughts of love and light to her and the others to bring light into their time of darkness.”
“My purpose in life was to spread joy and light – and that continues to be my purpose even now that I have passed. It is a worthy mission, and I encourage Tracey to learn from me and spread joy and light in the world too. If only she can touch a few hearts with her light and joy, it will all be worth it.”
Marianne: “Thanks a lot. It sounds beautiful. Tracey would like to know if you can say anything about whether you have plans to return or you will wait for them.”
Britney: “A light like mine cannot be contained, and my mission is not done as long as my light is needed in the world, so I will return in some form.”
Marianne: “Do you know when, where, or as what? Any details?”
Britney: “When the time is right I will decide. For now, bask in the light, love and joy I send from the “Big Light”. There’s really nothing else to know, or that matters. Let joy also be in your heart, and bring your light wherever you go and let it shine. The light is meant to be shared. By being light and connecting with others from the joy of the heart, you will ignite the light in others who have lost their light.”
She stops speaking and turns to watch the sea and the sky. A deep peace and divine light is radiating from her. So much light in such a small body. She sends a smile and bids us farewell for now.
As she leaves I thank her and promise to deliver her message to Tracey.
I thank my spirit guide and end the journey.

It truly is a beautiful message and exemplifies who she was in life- she always knew when someone needed some comfort and kisses to feel better and would work her magic- even with strangers. People would comment on her “knowing” and warmth and often comment that she was more “human” than “dog”. She always came back to me when she was done which made me so proud and happy-she had/has such love!!!! Thank you once again!! I’m excited for those who will find comfort in her words and also for keeping her memory alive! ~ Tracey’s response to the journey for her angel dog, Britney.
Hi Marianne,
I lost my dog Princess on Friday. I don’t know what happened. She was only 5 years old and was my fur-daughter. I am beyond devastation. I signed up for your emails and downloaded your course. I plan on reading them when I get off this site. She suddenly got sick and within a day she was gone. We have no answers and only heartbreak. I am having such a hard time grieving. How does someone come back from this? Thank you. Cindy
Dear Cindy, I am so sorry for your beloved dog Princess. My heart goes out to you in your time of grief. When you are in shock after the loss of a beloved animal companion, it can be hard to see how you can possibly cope or move forward. I saw a quote recently that I feel is very relevant: “One step at a time, one day at a time, one hour at a time”. Sometimes that’s all you can do when the grief is too strong. There may be some of the exercises in my Healing Pet Loss book you may find helpful, fx the two-letter exercise and the Hawaiian mantra. And since she died so suddenly that you barely had time to prepare or say goodbye, then saying goodbye in a memorial ceremony would be a suggestion if you haven’t done that. Also check out some of the podcast episodes. Much peace and love to you both, Marianne

Misty, my heart goes out to you and your family after the tragic loss of your beloved dog. You did a wonderful thing taking the dog in and caring for her, and although you only had her for two months, I’m sure her love will stay with you always, just as your love for her will remain with her. For dealing with the guilt see for instance this article. Peace and blessings to you and to Misty.
